The knee finished another round of degreaser soak and scrub and turned out just about completely bare iron. The way surfaces got a quick bath in the Evaporust to clean up some flash rust spots that had developed. WIth just about all of the degreasing and rust removal complete, it was time to get some paint on these parts before they all rusted again. I'm using Rustoleum primer and paint and because of the time of year and cold weather, I've chosen to roll/brush it on rather than using rattle cans. That way, I can get it painted in the basement where it is warm. The first step was to tape off the way surfaces of the knee, saddle, and bed, and get to work rolling or brushing on the primer. It didn't go on all that well in general, lots of streaks and areas where the bare iron wanted to show through. But, it should provide enough of a base for the gray paint to lay down better.

The bed with a base of primer on it. The ways were taped off, and the top surface wasn't painted.
The knee with a coat of primer.
The base primed. The bottom side was also primed, possibly the first layer of paint the bottom ever had.
