Purcell Henry (1659-1695)

Henry Purcell appartient à une famille de musiciens. Son père, Henry Purcell « I », ou l'« aîné », mort à Westminster en 1664, est membre de la chapelle royale d'Angleterre, à partir de 1661. Thomas Purcell, mort également à Westminster, en 1682, est chanteur à la cour. Il est certainement le frère d'Henry Purcell I, il accède à d'importantes charges administratives, succède à Henry Cooke, à la tête de la corporation des musiciens, le 24 juin 1672. Le frère cadet d'Henry Purcell II, Daniel Purcell (1664-1717), est compositeur et organiste, choriste à la chapelle royale. Il laisse de nombreuses œuvres. Edward Purcell (1678-1740) et Edward Henry Purcell (1... - 1765), fils et petit-fils d'Henry Purcell II, seront aussi musiciens.....

Henry Purcell belongs to a family of musicians. His father, Henry Purcell "I", or the "elder", died at Westminster in 1664, was a member of the Royal Chapel of England, from 1661. Thomas Purcell, also died in Westminster, in 1682, is a singer at the court. He is certainly the brother of Henry Purcell I, he accedes to important administrative duties, succeeds Henry Cooke, at the head of the corporation of musicians, June 24, 1672.
