There are two paths of upgrading a given Wangrow SystemOne DCC system. They all involved NCE since NCE helped design the Wangrow System and NCE own DCC systems and devices are compatible with Wangrow.
1) Upgrade the System One CSP01 with a 2004 NCE software upgrade chip.
You must contact NCE for the chip. However there are problems with this upgrade path. The 2004 upgrade chip is the last upgrade possible for the System One. The 2004 chip will have most, but not all, of the capabilities of the current NCE CS02 command stations software (2007). It is not possible to update the CSP01 to the latest NCE command station Software. Furthermore NCE may choose at any time to stop supporting this upgrade option. This is not a long term solution.
2) Replace the System One CSP01 with a NCE CS02 command station.
This will give you all of the latest features of the current command station (2007). The replacement of the command station is very easy. The RJ plug TYPE connections for the Cab Bus and Control Bus remain 100% the same. The input power wire connections look different but also remains the same screw-wire terminal type. No need to rewire anything. However there are THREE additional steps involved to complete the switch.
2A) Number of Cab Bus Jacks.
The NCE CS02 only have ONE RJ12 "Cab Bus jack. The System One CSP01 has two RJ12 Cab Bus jacks. If your layout is using BOTH Cab Jacks, fortunately there is an easy fix for the CS02. You get a inexpensive telephone cable RJ12 2 way splitter.

2B) Throttle Panels.
The NCE CS02 does not support the SystemOne CBB cab panels. CBB Panels are the type that use the large 1/4" Phone Jacks.
You will have to replace ALL of them with NCE's UTP type. Fortunately UTP's are a lot less expensive than the CBBs ever were. Installation is very easy since the RJ12 connection on the back of the panel are the same as the CBB's. The one exception is the DC power jack on the back. Depending on how old the UTP panels you get are, newer UTP's have a different style DC jack on the back. The voltage and current needs remain the same. If your not using the DC power jack, there is no problem. Otherwise refer to the UTP's manuals for more information.
2C) Cab/Throttle Cables.
In concert with 2B above, you must also replace all of the Throttle/Cab cables that have the 1/4" phone plugs on the end with RJ12 type. Fortunately the new RJ12 cables are a lot cheaper than the old cables. You must get the right cable.
