If SEP12.1's optional Proactive Threat Protection (SONAR) is running, it will prevent these double executable filenames from causing harm.
Using SEP's optional IPS components will block this communication and keep files from being locked by this threat.

Exchange Notes - Internal Names Issue
https://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htm
Automated tool: https://www.digicert.com/internal-domain-name-tool.htm
Manual Process: https://www.digicert.com/ssl-support/redirect-internal-exchange-san-names.htm
The CA/Browser Forum has recently adopted a new policy for Certificate Authorities, like DigiCert, that issue SSL Certificates, and for web browsers that use SSL Certificates. This rule states that certificates with internal domain name entries (including internal server and NetBIOS names) must expire on or before 2015 October 31. CAs will no longer be permitted to issue SSL Certificates containing internal DNS names (like yourdomain.local, or yourcompany.internal, etc.) or NetBIOS server hostnames (e.g. Server01, ExchangeCA1, etc.) where the expiration goes beyond this deadline. This requirement with its deadline will require that no more SSL Certificates with internal domain names will be issued with an expiration on or after November 1, 2015. For more information see section 9.2.1 of the Baseline Requirements
http://www.cabforum.org/Baseline_Requirements_V1.pdf.
