Stump Ancestors
Willie Delno Clark (1892 - 1979)
My G Grandfather
I think I have some clarification on the story about the Ross Road Farm was once owned by John Adams.
John Adams 2nd President of the United States
John Quincey Adams 6th president of the United States
There were a lot of people named John Adams, and interestingly a lot of them named their sons John Quincy Adams. I even found a John Adams and John Quincy Adams in or around Sunbury, Ohio. But I believe the link to John Quincey Adams that we have always heard, is when the President signed a document donating government land to individuals. Land is part of the United States Military District. I have found a bunch of these documents in the area, but haven't yet located the one for the Ross Road Farm.
Ross Road Farm: Trenton Township, Delaware County, Ohio
James Clark (1830-1916), my 3G Grandfather purchased the farm from Daniel Sinkey 2/22/1896. Daniel Sinkey owned the land in 1866. Uncle Charles called him Uncle Dan, but it appears that Dan is referred to as Uncle Dan by a lot of people, so I do not expect him to be a blood relative. Daniel moved to Ohio with his parents (William Sinkey and Mary E McCartney) when he was a child, so I am hoping to find documents of when his father purchased the land around 1810-1820.
Willie Clark says his father (Marshall) covered the log cabin with black walnut siding. He says Sinkey built the additions. I have not determined when the log cabin was built.
Gorsuch, Edward (1795 - 1851) - Christiana Riot
My 3rd cousin 5 times removed
- The slave owner that died in the Christiana Riot. Some people like to say this event was the cause of the Civil War 10 years later. I believe that is a bit of a stretch, but it is a noteworthy event that lead up to the abolishment of Slavery.
- The Christiana Riot - Memorial Plaque: The 1850 federal Fugitive Slave Act strengthened the position of slave owners seeking to capture runaways. Pursuing four escaped slaves, Maryland farmer Edward Gorsuch arrived Sept. 11, 1851 at the Christiana home of William Parker, an African American who was giving them refuge. Neighbors gathered fighting ensued and Gorsuch was killed. This incident did much to polarize the national debate over the slavery issue.
- Our common Ancestors are Charles Gorsuch (8/25/1642 - 6/27/1716) and Sarah Cole.
Perfect, William (1746-1813) - Revolutionary War

Joseph Drake Dungan (1671 - 1759)
My 7th Great Grandfather
Interesting to note that Joseph Dungan’s Father (Thomas Dungan Jr.) is descendant of English royalty and his mother (Mary Drake) is supposedly descendant of Julius Cesar. Mary Drake is also related to Sir Francis Drake.
Anne Barne Lovelace (1610- 6/1652)
This is my path to Charlemegne

Captain Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
Having a family line of Clark that have been in America since the 1700's, you would hope to be related to General George Rogers Clark and the explorer William Clark. But I have not made that link yet. But someone has determined the ancestry of Captain Meriwether Lewis to be connected to King Edward III, which we are also connected. So in a very distant path, we are related to Captain Meriwether Lewis.

I haven't added this info to my tree yet.
Our Clark Family can be traced to George W. Clark (1771-1860, my 5th Great Grandfather), born in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
The census of 1790 reported 2,422 "Clarks" as the heads of families in America.

Julius Cesar (July 100 BC - 15 Mar 44 BC)
Gaius Julius Cesar on Ancestry.com, not in my tree. There are probably too many assumptions for this to ever be accurate.
