The UNTHSC Center for Anatomical Sciences (CAS) accepts graduate students interested in functional morphology research through the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences (STARS) discipline within the Biomedical Sciences M.S. and Ph.D. graduate programs. Individuals interest in joining the STARS discipline and/or the Menegaz Lab should contact Dr. Menegaz via email.
The Menegaz Lab is actively recruiting new M.S./Ph.D. students from the Fall 2026 Traditional Cohorts.
CAS offers a Year 2 Research Track Option for M.S. in Medical Sciences (MedSci) students. During the research year, MedSci students complete a research practicum, take advanced electives in the anatomical sciences (such as dissection-based anatomy courses, neuroanatomy, embryology, etc.), and serve as teaching assistants (TAs) in the anatomy lab. Interested individuals should contact Dr. Menegaz via email.
Learn more about MSRT alumni of the Menegaz lab here.
Gap year students (M.S. in Medical Sciences students who have graduated and are taking a "gap year" to apply to professional school) are welcome to participate in ongoing lab research on a volunteer basis.
The Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences (SARS) graduate discipline participates in the D.O./Ph.D. dual degree program. Individuals interested in joining the SARS discipline as a dual-degree student should contact Dr. Menegaz via email.
TCOM students can participate in research in the Menegaz lab through the Honors Research Practicum (1 year program for Year 2 students) and Research Electives (1 month program for Year 3-4 students). (Note: Research Electives are not offered in the Menegaz Lab from August 15-October 15 due to scheduling conflicts.)
Professional students (TCOM, SHP, etc.) are always welcome to participate in ongoing lab research on a volunteer basis. Please contact Dr. Menegaz via email if you are interested in joining the lab.
The Summer Opportunities in Anatomy Research (SOAR) program offers 10-week research internships in CAS research labs to rising junior and senior undergraduate students.
The UNTHSC Center for Diversity and International Programs also offers Summer Research Internship Programs for undergraduate students.
The HSC Explore Summer Research Internship Program offers a 5-week research internship to high school students (10th-12th grades) from Forth Worth ISD. For more information, contact Dr. Menegaz via email.
The 3D printing initiative is currently seeking student volunteers. Please contact Dr. Menegaz via email if you are interested.
