The Menegaz Lab is a founding host lab of the Summer Opportunities in Anatomy Research (SOAR) program. SOAR is 10-week internship program that offers hands-on experiences in anatomical research, education, and outreach to undergraduate students. The mission of SOAR is to recruit the next generation of anatomists from diverse and underrepresented groups, with a focus on retaining those students through individual mentorship and early career preparation. More information can be found at the SOAR website.
AAA 2023 SOAR Update and Application Information
SOAR has been supoorted by the American Association for Anatomy Innovations Program, the National Science Foundation (BCS-2149984 REU Supplement), the UNTHSC Department of Physiology & Anatomy, and the UNTHSC Research Enhancement Assistance Program.
The HSC Explore Summer Research Internship Program is a 5-week research internship for high school students in Tarrant County. HSC Explore interns receive hands-on experience and the chance to learn more about career opportunities in the biomedical sciences.
Interns matched with the Menegaz lab work alongside undergraduate and graduate students to complete and present research projects, participate in anatomy lab activities, and attend departmental research seminars and other career development activities.
For more information about the HSC Explore program, contact Dr. Menegaz.
Menegaz lab members lead anatomy outreach activities (such as anatomy lab tours, STEM summer programs, and more) through the Center for Anatomical Sciences Outreach Programs. We also partner with the Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences to host hands-on experiences in STEM education and research for high school students.
Dr. Menegaz and lab members visit schools in-person and via video calls to speak about research in the anatomical sciences and STEM careers. Please contact Dr. Menegaz by email if you are a primary or secondary school teacher interested in arranging a school visit.
