D-STAR ACADEMY
The Central Florida D-Star Group has been formed to assist amateur radio operators in becoming
familiar with one of the newest advances in amateur radio: D-Star.
We have a D-Star Academy we are calling D-Starters planned for July 30th in Lake County.
ICOM has confirmed their participation, and we are still in the planning stages. There will not be any vendors there,
ICOM will not be selling anything. The academy will be to instruct operators - new and experienced -
with more knowledge and applications to be used with D-Star. It WILL be a learning experience!
Click HERE for more information on the academy...
How many times have you turned on your D-Star and heard someone say that they just got their D-Star and a friend programmed it for them?
Now they want to learn how to use it, and the instructions are confusing. One of the purposes of this group is to help with that.
There are two new repeaters that will be in operation in the central part of the state very soon:
The KJ4TJD repeater (444.500 MHz +5) is being installed south of Tavares in Lake County
The W4VLG repeater (443.700 MHz +5) is being installed in the south west section of Sumter County.
This is not only a large boost for D-Star enthusiasts from coast to coast in the middle of the state, but is also a "shot in the arm" for ARES.
