October 2019 - New soakaways in South Avenue , Park Avenue and Ayebridges Avenue
Work started on October 21st.
October 2019 - River Thames Scheme
Funding has been agreed for the RTS Flood Relief Scheme which is great news . I've added a new web page for the RTS and pasted some comments there from Ewan Larcombe who is a member of the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Commitee.
November 2018 - STOP LOGS and TEMPORARY DAM south of Ayebridges Avenue
Contractors working for the EA will performed a test-run to check the installation of temporary Stop-Logs in the Meadlake Ditch at the bottom of the Ashleigh Avenue playing field. In the event of an imminent flood, the logs will be used to temporarily dam the ditch to prevent backflow reaching properties upstream as happened in 2014.
There were problems slotting the logs into the steel girders so the contractors had to return next day to complete the test . The stop logs are now being stored at the EA's depot in Sunbury.
We have reservations about them being able to ship all of the equipment they need to the site and install it quickly enough before the next flood event. The equipment includes bulk waste bags full of sand/gravel , sand bags and flexible metal flood barriers as shown below.
