Description

Train 67 prepares to depart Richmond, VA at Staples Mills Road.

F40 number 163 leads a string of shiny Budd, stainless steel bi-level commuter cars.  The railroad went from stressing over the fact that KATO only produced the modern counterparts in N scale and not HO to owning nine of these cars in both trailer and cab configurations.  The cars were acquired in early 2011.

The consist for the Lake Shore Limited is broken up so that it can be effectively accommodated while laying over in Chicago before making its return trip to New York/Boston.

A northbound MARC commuter train is part of the scene here as the photo shows the paneling of the re-constructed MLRR.

An Amtrak California locomotive sure looks vulnerable without a string of mass-produced Amtrak California cars behind it.

The westbound Pennsylvanian slips by between a local station platform and a local freight yard.

Engine 156 rounding turn four on track to of the MLRR main line as it makes its way toward Washington, D.C. where it will be swapped with an electric engine for the balance of its trip to New York.

MARC Commuter Cab number 7892 (re-number 7845) brings up the rear with it's markers fully lit.

The Chicago/Washington yard briefly hosted Nippon Shyro bi-level gallery cars from IMW.  An error in the dimensions of these cars made them unsuitable for operation on the MLRR and were eventually sold off.  The MLRR is still holding out hope that KATO will produce these cars in HO in the very near future.
