The RANT

Objective

Rick Mercer is an entertaining Canadian celebrity who regularly uses his show to educate the audience about various people, places and events in our great country. One of the regular segments in his television show, The Rick Mercer Report, is "Rick's Rant" where he chooses a current topic from the media or the day and Rants! He provides relevant information about the topic then clearly, and humoursly, provides the audience with his opinion.

You and a partner must choose a topic and create your own rant!

Steps

• 1. Select a partner.

  2. View and analyse at least 3 of Rick's Rants. Think about how he introduces his topics, presents relevant information then states his opinion

  3. Write and rehearse your script. (See the scripts on the RMR site.)

  4. Plan you camera shot(s): position, movement, tilt, etc.

  5. Choose your role: Ranter / Recorder

  6. Choose an appropriate location to shoot your production.

  7. Record your footage.

  8. Download your footage to the location indicated by the teacher.
