Tri-M Music Honor Society

Tri-M is an international Music Honor Society that recognizes musical achievement, dedication, and leadership among high school students. Founded in 1936 by Alexander and Frances Harley, Tri-M has recognized thousands of music students in almost 4,000 chapters worldwide. Tri-M is a program of NAME: The National Association for Music Education, the largest arts education association in the world.

Eligibility requirements:  

1. Academic requirement - Student must be a current member of Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, or Concert Choir and maintain an 90% or above average in the course.  Juniors and seniors are eligible.

2. Recommendation - Students are nominated by their Band, Orchestra, or Choir teacher based on musical achievement, dedication, and leadership.  Students are expected to exhibit the qualities of good role models to their peers.

Upon nomination, students will receive a notification letter and must return the acceptance form and musical statement.

The purpose of the Music Honor Society is to: (a) recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in the field of music, (b) serve as an inspiration for students to strive for higher goals in their work; (c) foster excellence and dedication in the pursuit of music; (d) encourage the creative talents of the individual; (e) assist other students in working towards the improvement of skills; (f) and to bring music to the attention of the school and community.
