Spectrum Jazz Ensemble

Welcome to Spectrum Jazz Ensemble

Our "Spectrum" Jazz Ensemble is a MHS extracurricular activity. It is an audition-only group that rehearses weekly.  It  is a high-level, high-energy band that performs a variety of classic jazz, modern fusion and popular music.   You can catch them opening the Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival, at Morristown On Stage, or at a variety of local and regional jazz festivals throughout the year.    The group begins rehearsals in September and the year culminates with our annual  Jazz Night performance at Morristown High School in May.  Spectrum Jazz is open to a variety of band instruments (flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone), rhythm instruments (piano, bass, guitar, drums) and voices.

The Spectrum Jazz Band is lead and directed by Mr. Timothy Beadle. Contact him for audtion information.

Mr. Beadle earned his undergraduate degree at The University of Maryland where he studied the trumpet.  He first began teaching in the DC metro area working for the Potomac School, in McLean, VA, the DC Youth Orchestra, and the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra program.  He led Potomac to superior ratings at their first and only trip to the VBODA district concert band festival.  Ensembles under his instruction also performed at the Strathmore Music Center, the White House, and for former president Bill Clinton.

After moving to New Jersey in 2010, Mr. Beadle earned a Masters at Teachers College, Columbia University where he focused on alternative rehearsal techniques and was student conductor of the Columbia University Wind Ensemble.  His ensembles at Mendham High School were selected to play at the NJ State Band Gala three consecutive times, the NJ State Jazz Finals, and the NJMEA Conference and worked with such prestigious guests as Col.
