Geese crossing in Jaksza Belarus
Mission Kressy success
Jasza/Pinsk on Sunday met some Belarus hunters in the woods near the ossada site who spoke perfect Polish
Nice asphalt road into Jaksza, beyond the road turns to sand but easy to drive on.
Targovica (now Tohorvytsia) yesterday and spoke with some of the villagers also in Polish.
They recognised the hay reaper on the old picture - said it was in one of the woods - but too difficult to get to easily.
The road to Tohorvytsia off the main highway is 16km of rough cobbles,a real bone shaker, max speed possible 20km/hr and no sign posts or village names. So took about 1 hour to do the 10 miles to Tohovytsia. It was a further 16 miles of the same cobbles to drive out via the southern end to Mlyniv. Getting around these parts was not easy going.
Targovica is now a one road village and remaining side roads are muddy dirt tracks.
Targovica - with horse drawn carriage in distance
Many of the old lanes have now gone, much bigger agricultaral fields. Zawalle only has 3 buildings and Zady (Travneve) has been removed- there is just one building here along with tumbled remains of another, along a reasonable road off the cobbles- but you could look across towards the osada location and the forests beyond.
In Targovica there is no evidence of the old church and the kopiec has also been removed.
From Targovica looking across Ikva valley towards Welnice
This is where the Zady road ends - looking towards nearby trees where Zady used to be .
Walked arround Lvov old town this morning.
Met a Lvov Pole who explained the Polish Jan Pawel 2 Cathedral to us
1.5 hrs to clear Polish Border Control today. Our longest delay other crossings had no major issues or delays - lots of fun with paperwork!!!
Arrived in Lancut Palace nearly 5:00pm.
We are now in our mini appartment attached to the right hand side of the Palace. We are the only guests tonight and wild boar is on the menu.
