Course Syllabus
Class objectives: In Digital Media-2D Animation, the student learns animation basics and history, how to digitize cell animation, how to use software for animation, and how to draw for animation. Literacy strategies are integrated throughout the curriculum.
Lab Fees: As noted in the Manzano Course Catalog the fee for this class is $10. This is only a one-semester class. The lab fees are the only source of funding for equipment, supplies, etc. Once the lab fees are paid students can start using the equipment. Lab fees are due by: Sep. 4, 2009. If the lab fee is not paid by the due date I will contact parents to make arrangements for payment. Payment can be made by cash or check made out to Manzano High School. Since there is a minimal lab fee, students may be required to purchase art supplies on their own to complete assignments. Mechanical pencils will be required and a journal/notebook is also required for this class.
General Expectations: Students are expected to be on time to class and attendance is part of the final grade. At times students will be allowed to sign out equipment for use during the class period, equipment should be handled carefully and the student will be financially responsible for lost, damaged or stolen equipment. Students are expected to obey the school computer usage contract signed during registration.
This class is a hands-on class, meaning that the grades are mainly based on making art, not testing or lectures.
Grading: About 60% of the grade is based on art and computer assignments. The remaining 30% is based on employability skills, which includes classroom behavior and personal responsibility, attendance, completing assignments on time and respecting the teacher and classmates. Ten percent will be quizzes and tests.
