Current Research Project

“ImplantSens”: Mass-transfer independent long-term implantable biosensors.

The objective of ImplantSens is to develop implantable long-term stable electrochemical biosensors by overcoming mass-transport based sensing schemes. Development of biosensors and specific measuring protocols for designed enzymes to switch them between ON and OFF state, thus preventing any mass-transport dependent perturbation of the substrate concentration from equilibrium. Founded by H2020-EU.1.3.1. and led by Ruhr-Universität Bochum in cooperation with other 7 Universities and 3 private companies.

Research Interest: Electrochemistry, Bioelectrochemistry, Biocatalysis, Immobilisation of biomolecules, Biosensors, Biocompatibility.
