1st September We are glad to have Carina Figueiredo from the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry from Spanish National Research Council (ICP-CSIC) to do her research stay in our lab under the EU project "Implantsens". Carina will work on the development of an electrochemical biosensor based on the immobilization of galactose oxidase on different nanoporous gold electrodes. Best of luck Carina!!!
4th August We are glad to have Dr. Alessandro Pira from University of Cagliari to do his research stay in our lab under the EU project "Go For It". Alessandro will work on the development of heterogeneous enzymatic biocatalysts based on solid mesoporous silica supports for flow bioreactors applications. Best of luck!!
18th June Fernando Otero won the Best Thesis in 3 Talk of the physical chemistry section at the 72nd Irish Chemistry Colloquium. The talk was entitled "Electrochemical biosensor for the detection of a sequence of the TP53 gene using a methylene blue labelled DNA probe" Well done!
18th June Kim Shortall won the Best Talk of the biochemistry section at the 72nd Irish Chemistry Colloquium. The talk was entitled "Immobilization of aldehyde dehydrogenase employing cofactor regeneration for use in biocatalysis " Well done!

27th January Prof. Edmond Magner gave his inaugural lecture “Proteins and Surfaces”as the Professor of Electrochemistry, hosted by the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Limerick. The group members and group alumni, family members, colleagues shared the big moment with him.

Congratulations!The Bioelectrochemical Society (BES) is an international scientific association founded by Giulio Milazzo in 1979 to promote understanding and cooperation among scientists interested in the application of electrochemical concepts and techniques to the fundamental or applied study of living systems.
