This presentation was all about being able to inform the public of a hazard through proper risk communication methods. The seven cardinal rules of risk communication were implemented throughout the message. A few key points from the seven cardinal rules include; listen to the public's specific concerns, be honest, and speaking clearly with compassion. I learned that it is key to keep the public in mind when addressing a potential risk hazard in their community that may be harmful to people's lives and health. My specific scenario I chose was that there was a chemical spill nearby a lake that is used as the city's main source of water supply. I had to really understand how I would feel as the public, in order to convey my message as effectively as possible.
