From: www.allfordmustangs.com

"1990 to 1993 the stock Ford production V-8 WC T-5 was upgraded with stronger 3.35 gear set. The nickel content was increased to produce a harder, stronger gear. 2nd and 3rd gear ratios decrease slightly. Synchro linings on 3rd, 4th were improved by changing to carbon fiber to further improve shifting. Longer throw shifter was installed to "easier to shift". Torque rating jumped to 300ft/lbs."

"1994 and 95 were the last two years Ford used the T-5 behind a V-8. In the SN95 Mustangs, the bell housing in both 3.8L and 5.0L was made longer to place the T-5 shifter in the correct location to the body. This in turn made the input shaft longer. The neutral safety switch was eliminated, as it was no longer needed. Everything else remained the same."

"...ALL World Class T-5 use ATF oil"

From What I have Found:

Here are the only 3 options that I can see on how to install a T-5 to a 240/300 I6.

Option 1:

Parts:

Mustang Bell Housing, Flywheel, Dust Shield, Clutch and Clutch Cable.

Needed Modifications:

Convert Cutch Linkage to Cable. You will need to figure out how much movement you want and how much pull travel you need and make the proper arm…blaa, blaa , blaa (Fabrication Babble...if you are doing this you need to have good fabrication skills and time).

Fabricate/Modify Transmission Cross Member.

Drive shaft length changed and T-5 Yoke installed. (same as 3-speed yoke I had.)

Possible Problems:

All the problems that could arise during conversion to a Cable Operated Clutch.

302 Flywheel Bolt pattern might be different than 300.

Starter will move about 1" closer to the block because of smaller Flywheel. This may not work, might not be enough room.

Shifter will move VERY close to front of bench seat. (Modern Drive Line will mate a truck output shaft and housing to your T-5 for $400 +shipping.)

Option 2:

Parts:

Use the Mustang Bell Housing, Flywheel, Dust Shield and Clutch.

Stock Mechanical Clutch Linkage.

Needed Modifications:

Convert Bell Housing to work with existing Cutch Linkage. This is what early Mustangs do, see http://www.fordmuscle.com/ for more info.

Fabricate/Modify Transmission Cross Member.

Drive shaft length changed and T-5 Yoke installed.

Option 3: (What I am doing)

Parts:

Use the "T-5 Adapter plate for a Ford SB 6 bolt bell housing or wide pattern "3,4 speed"."

Stock 300 Bell Housing, Flywheel, Dust Shield, Clutch and Mechanical Clutch Linkage.

Needed Modifications:

Fabricate/Modify Transmission Cross Member.

Drive shaft length changed and T-5 Yoke installed.

Possible Problems:

Shifter will move VERY close to front of bench seat. (Modern Drive Line will mate a truck output shaft and housing to your T-5 for $400 +shipping.)

Explanation:

The Stock 300 Bell Housing it not as deep and the '93 T-5 Input shaft requires. This means that you need a spacer about 0.75" thick. Also the Stock Toploader uses a different bolt pattern than the T-5. Both of these are solved with the adapter plate. This option is not as strong as the stock configuration but the Transmission is the week link.

As for the compatibility of the Clutch & Throughout Bearing and the T-5 Input shaft. The stock throughout Bearing and the Mustang Release Bearing have the same O.D. and I.D., so I don't see a problem there. Both Clutch disks use a 1-1/16" 10 Spline Disk, the only thing that differs is the O.D. (10.5in on 302/5.0l and 11" on 300)
