Pedal Bearing and Linkage Upgrade

This mod is intended for 60's era mustangs, but the trucks have the same diameter shaft and the same problem.

So why not!

Steve sells the kit for $40. I looked at what I could just buy the other components for and it was around $55. So I figured I would let him buy in bulk and I would be lazy...I mean, support a small businessman and buy from Steve.

His kit comes with instructions and is easy, but does require a welder. Only a few tack welds are needed.

I Painted the housing light grey so that light would reflect around a little more under the dash.

I also didn't like the stock clutch linkage. It wears out and creates more slop in the system. I have also been stranded more than once when I have lost the Z-bar to clutch fork adjustment.

I got my parts from Mc-Master Carr. I don't remember how much, but they are way overkill...just the way I like it!

This is a shot of my "new" bushings after 5k miles. (this is the problem)

Here are some comparison shots.

Once installed it moved the linkage over about .5", so the rubber gromit in the floor started to wear out sooner. If you use just the regular ends without the integral stud, it should line up fine.

There is NO slop in this system now and it will last for MANY MANY YEARS!
