  • DOD Died at the age of 20, he gave his coat to a beggar and caught double phenomena because it was a cold rain.

  • Cousin Pat clarified this as:  His bed was given away to a drunk by Bernard, and Brian had to sleep in the hall, he died of neglect.  From the tone of Pat's voice - I think he was repeating what his father Patrick(Padraic) said.

    • Barbara( June 16, 1941-Oct 30, 2008)  Barbara B. Mahon 67, of White Plains, N.Y. died suddenly and peacefully on October 26, 2008 at her residence. She was born on June 16,1941 to the late Columba and Margaret MacMenamin in NYC. Barbara loved every minute she lived and was a true maverick. She was involved in Holy Name of Jesus Parish Social concerns, volunteered at the American Red Cross, gathered clothes for Sister Alice, hosted baby showers for birthright, organized the Do'ers for MS Walkathon, was a member of the Granada Board, and participated in numerous Midnight Runs and volunteered at Camp Sunshine. Barbara is survived by her three brothers, Brian, Dennis (Ana) and Michael (Karen) MacMenamin. Her five nephews , Tim, Jason, Aaron, Michael and Joseph MacMenamin. And her two nieces, Belinda (Tom) Baum and Lindsay MacMenamin. Also survived by her extended MacMenamin and Englert families and close relatives in New York, Florida, Vermont and Virginia, and countless others that were blessed by her friendship and love. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of the Resurrection, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Thursday 10 AM. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury, Conn. Alice Gerard died, the four boys were taken by the orphanage, Bernard having lost everything, worked on a Ship for his passage to Ireland.  He tried to become a priest, but they sent him back to America saying he needed to remarry and get his boys out of the orphanage.  

Bernard Married Sarah Josephine Geddis (Nov 12, 1885 -May 6, 1958 lived 72 years) of Belfast Ireland.   Sara had smuggled a gun for the Irish Republic.  Upon her family finding out when the Irish Republic came to search the house, not finding the gun hid in the bottom of a hat box.  Her parents scrapped enough money to get passage to either America or Austriala.  Sara chose America, came to NewYork in 1920.  She met Bernard and were married with a few months. 

 Now the boys had a mother and were released from the Orphanage.       

Sarah & Bernard had 4 more children:

in St. Raymond Cemetery   

• James  (Oct 15, 1922 - May 15, 1990 68 years old) Married Mary Branigan(1923-1985) and had 3 children.  They lived in NY and on Long Island when Kathy was 9 they moved to Florida

  1. They lived in Florida, had a Hollywood Rental Mart. Jimmy had the most beautiful blue eyes, they were stunning!Tommy - LA has two boys  - Shawn married Kathy

       In September 1932, Sara wants to go back to Ireland.

       Brian & Maureen had died and Sara needed to see her family.   

       Sara, Bernard and the three children:  James, Joey & Bernadette go to Northern Ireland to be with Sara's family and to see if they can build a life in Ireland.

       They couldn't find steady work.  So they decided to reture to the US.  Sara had issues getting back to the United States, and were gone 1  1/2 years.

       Bernard convinces Mr. Hennesy (his daughter Lil is married to Bernard's son Patrick) to turn over some assets so that Bernard does not look like he owns nothing.

       He is able to get Sara released to come back into NewYork.  And Mr. Hennesy's property is turned back to him.
