FULLAGAR (Tilden)

Fullegare, Fullager, Fullagard, FullagardeDerivative of Old German 'fulchar' or 'fulcher' (people army) (English, German)

The original research I saw for Elizabeth Fullagar was done by B Newland of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand; it gave Elizabeth's parents as James FULLAGAR & Frances STAPLEY. It was in the days before the Internet, so I'm unable to ascertain his sources. An American named Daniel Shawn Fullagar put up his ancestral tree on-line and it featured Elizabeth to these parents and went back to Dominyche FULLAGARDE & Alice HEMERSHAM.

Hollingbourne in Kent where Elizabeth may have been baptised is 12-13 miles from Cranbrook where she was married. I am unable to find a birth or baptism entry for Elizabeth to parents James & Frances. I can find no marriage entry either for James Fullagar & Frances Stapley. None of George and Elizabeth's known children were named James or Frances. For this reason I have put a question mark over Elizabeth's ancestral line back to Dominyche Fullagarde.
