LWV Intern

Seeking

Individuals 18 years and older interested in any of the following subjects: advocacy, public policy, web communication (social media, web design, apps), marketing, and community organizing. General Description

This is an opportunity to serve as an intern for the League of Women Voters of Winnebago County (LWV of WC). LWV is one of the longest standing, most reputable civic organizations that promotes fundamental principles of democracy, such as, voter access and education. Our local chapter exists sole on a volunteer basis and 2018 has a packed agenda:

  • Provide voter education in preparation for the 2018 voting season

  • Host Candidate Forums on multiple topics for multiple communities

  • Monthly “Food for Thought” luncheons

  • Host the State LWV Convention in June 2018 (Oshkosh)

  • Raise awareness of LWV of WC to a broader audience (diversify membership)

  • This internship will support the Communications Director and other LWV leaders in creating, planning, managing and publishing promotional material. After initial training this position primarily works independently with weekly check-ins via phone and/or email (~4 hours per week).

This internship will introduce you to local issues, leaders, policy makers and get a real feel for community organizing. The success of this role will hinge on individual organization, communication and an ability to stay self-motivated.
