We are indebted to our volunteers without whom the Festival simply would not happen


Volunteers assist as:


Officials on the Executive Committee, appointed/re-elected at the AGM in June.


Music, and Speech and Drama Committees, appointed/re-elected at the AGM whose members have a passion and a keen interest and knowledge in these fields.

Stewards who welcome performers and audience alike.  Their duties include taking admission money and selling programmes at the door; checking in performers, announcing and Session Manager.

Volunteers are also required to help man the refreshments during the afternoon and evening intervals.

Scribes who enter details of outstanding performers in each class on our certificates which become prized possessions.


There are always vacancies for additional Stewards as we require so many to spread the load.  All that is needed is enthusiasm for our Festival.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact:

Secretary to the Speech and Drama Committee

This is a voluntary position which involves coordinating the work of the Speech and Drama Committee. The Secretary arranges and attends  the  four committee meetings each year and is responsible for accepting Speech and Drama entries.  He/she produces drafts of the Speech and Drama section of the syllabus and programme in conjunction with the Entries Committee.  Although most duties are concentrated from January through to the end of the Festival in March, syllabus planning meetings take place later in the year ready for the next draft to be produced by the end of August. The person required must be IT literate, with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and experience of a database programme. An online entry system is being planned, for which the Secretary will ultimately be responsible.

Main duties:

Arrange and attend Speech and Drama Committee Meetings

Coordinate Speech and Drama entries

Produce the draft syllabus and programme

Attend and assist during the Speech and Drama Festival week
