Driving, judging & more!
Our parents and guardians make it all possible. They provide snacks for meetings, drive students to and from tournaments, judge at tournaments and more. Snacks are great at the start of the meeting and we appreciate the contributions.
When students sign up for tournaments, they are asked what role their parents will do to support that trip. For every 3-4 tournaments at which a student competes, it's expected that a parent/guardian/family friend will volunteer to judge and hopefully drive. If special circumstances interfere with a parent's ability to fulfill the team responsibilities, please contact bharrison@pps.net to discuss it. Without parent volunteers, we cannot attend tournaments and thrive. No prior experience in speech and debate is needed to judge. Training will be provided.
To start volunteering, please do the following:
1. Complete the PPS Background Check at: https://www.pps.net/domain/66
2. Complete the driver/vehicle statement of qualification and submit it along with copy of driver's license and proof of car insurance. This form can be turned in as a hard copy (with copies of your driver's license and insurance declarations page) to the Lincoln Main Office (attention Jill Ross), or you can scan all the documents and send them in an email to Jill: jross2@pps.net
3. Watch this webpage for volunteer opportunities and ways you can support the team.
For student participation questions or general questions about Lincoln Speech and Debate, contact Head Coach Ben Harrison at: bharrison@pps.net.
