Limerick book place in Division 4 Semi-Final

Limerick secured a place in the Irish Daily Star Division 4 League Semi-Finals with an emphatic  5-6 to 2-7 win over Meath in Kilmallock.

Limerick stamped their authority on this game early in the game when Sarah Collins goaled. This was followed by two points from play from Elaine Kennedy. Sarah Collins hit the back of the net again followed by a goal from Elaine Kennedy to make the score 3-2 to 0-0.

Limerick continued their dominance of the first half as Meath struggled to clear their lines. Caitrin de Bhál added two points and Kristy Carroll added one before Sarah Collins completed her hat-trick to make the score at half-time Limerick 4-5 Meath 0-0.

The second half started as the first one had gone with Limerick adding a fifth goal through Rebecca Noonan. Though the game was over as a contest Meath to their credit started to build some pressure of their own after Sinead Beagan opened the scoring with a well taken point. Sinead added 6 more points including 5 from the placed ball which when added to two excellent goals from Ciara Ashe put a respectable look on the scoreboard. Limerick added one further point from a Catrin de Bhal free to run out deserving winners by 5-6 to 2-7.

Limerick’s final group game is away to Dublin on 6th April but the win has guaranteed them a place in the semi-finals on 20th April.
