Limerick 1-6 Cork 1-11

Munster Minor A Semi-final

Sat 9th Feb @ 2:30 Boher, Co. Limerick

Limerick's Minor Camogie Team got their season off to a great start with a spirited performance in the Munster A Semi-Final in Boher on Saturday.

It was a thrilling encounter which could have gone either way until the last quarter when Cork opened up what proved to be the decisive lead.

Cork opened the scoring with a point from play which was quickly cancelled by a point by Limerick centre-back and captain Rebecca Delee. Limerick then went into the lead with a point from play from corner forward Caoimhe Costello (last year's U16 capt). Caoimhe also scored the next point from a free to make the score Limerick 0-3 Cork 0-1.

In what was to be the pattern of the day Cork then leveled with two points the first from a free and the second from play. But Limerick were to reopen a lead with a brilliant hand-passed goal from Caoimhe. Cork replied with a point before half-time leaving Limerick ahead at the break by 1-3 to 0-4.

The second half started well for Limerick with a point from a free from Caoimhe Costello to take her personal tally to 1-3 but Cork then hit a purple patch and scored 5 points without reply (3 from play and 2 frees)

Limerick responded well and despite an onslaught on the Cork goal Limerick were unlucky not to register a score until wing forward and Vice Captain Martina McMahon hit two points to narrow the gap and level the game.  However these were to be Limericks last scores of the game despite a penalty which Corks goalie saved.

Cork then broke Limericks hearts with a goal and in the end added two more points from frees leaving the final score Cork 1-11 Limerick 1-6.
