Clare goals prove the difference

Munster U16 A Shield Final

23rd March 2014 at 2pm in Martinstown

A second half goal blitz from Clare proved decisive as they beat Limerick by 3-5 to 0-6 in the Munster U16 Shield.

This was a very even contest in the first half with Clare having the aid of the breeze. Limerick opened the scoring and led by 2 points after 15 mins both scores being frees which were converted by Leah Riordan. Clare got their first score on 21 minutes from Regan Conway. They added 2 more points in the first half to lead by 1 point at the break 0-3 to 0-2.  

Limerick drew level 3 minutes into the second half with another Leah Riordan free but Clare were starting to take control.  Aoife Barry saved a Clare penalty after 7 mins but Clare scored 2  quick goals in the 9th and 10th minutes from Roisin Begley and Regan Conway. Leah Riordan got 2 points back for Limerick from frees in the 15th and the 17 mins.

Regan Conway extended Clare's lead with a free on 18 mins and followed up with a goal from play 3 mins later. In the final minutes Leah Riordan and Regan Conway exchanged frees as Clare ran out winners on score line of Clare 3-5 to  Limerick 0-6.
