Butter Mints

1/3 cup white syrup

1/2 stick butter (if using unsalted butter-add 1 tsp salt)

3/4 teaspoon pepermint extract

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 Box Powdered sugar

Cut butter and sugar together with two knives or pastry blender until butter is in chunks.

Add syrup, peppermint and vanilla.

Stir with a wooden spoon until it all begins to come together.

Use hands and work into a dough and constantly knead untill smooth.

From a well in the center and add a drop of food coloring of your choice and begin to knead until desired color.

Rest your candy on large sheets of wax paper.

Using your hands, work into a snake like shapes alittle bigger around than a pencil. wait 10 minutes and cut into pieces starting with the first snake.

Allow to them to set for 24 hours then place in an airtight container.

They will be simi-soft so keep them protected.
