Let's review the present tense.
There are three major groups of regular verbs in French: verbs with infinitives ending in -er, verbs with infinitives ending in -ir, and verbs with infinitives ending in -re. Since -er verbs are the most numerous, they are considered the first conjugation. To conjugate these verbs, drop the -er from the infinitive to form the stem. Next, add the -er endings to the stem. Different tenses have different endings.

Aller: 10 minutes
Present Tense:
The word tense comes from the old English “tens” and before that from the Latin: “Tempus”, its first meaning is “Time”, however in English for the verbs we prefer to use the word “tense”, so when you say “present tense”, the meaning is “present time” or “for the time being”.
In French, we have one word for “Time” and “Tense” coming from the Latin too: “Temps”
There are 3 groups for verbs and you need to know them to be able to conjugate them.
1. Verbs ending with –er (infinitive form): 1st group
2. Verbs ending with –ir: 2nd group (they have some forms : -issons, -issez)
3. Other verbs: 3rd group
