Contemporary Art
Children and artists approach the world in similar ways. Both observe their surroundings, inquire about phenomena, question what is happening and express ideas.
La Petite Ecole is a unique environment designed to give children greater exposure to visual culture, as well as the opportunity to develop a broader range of expression through dialogue and interaction with artists and educators.
Our school benefits from its connection to the former Virgil de Voldère Gallery by bringing in critically acclaimed and internationally renowned artists to work with the children. These artists and their works are carefully selected to ensure that an age-appropriate exchange takes place. Such encounters are the keystone for fostering imagination and enriching our curriculum.
Being situated near several museums and cultural institutions, our classes have taken numerous field trips to such places as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Gagosian Gallery, and the Swiss Institute.
