I was privileged to speak at Canons Park Teaching School Alliance' annual conference today, continuing to explore curriculum and assessment. I'd attended last year when I was in the midst of my "Research" phase so it was great to be back as a speaker to share the progress made.
Curriculum and Assessment are two sides of the same coin (to steal Kev Bartle's title for his talking table at lunch today!) and I've spoken at a few Research Ed's about our process of redesigning curriculum and blogged about it here.
Rather than delivering this presentation again, I decided to challenge myself by focusing on the assessment part of the rebuild; it seemed like a good idea until I found myself still working on it at 8pm on a Friday night!
Even stripped of my beloved clicker (Thanks Kev for managing the slides for us), I had a good time sharing The Rise's journey so far, and hope some folks found it useful!
The link to the bibliography is here. Please find today's powerpoint here:
In the small "pack" of materials I gave out was:
A copy of the project plan
Don't Drown in Data by James Pembroke which you can find online here (if you're a TES subscriber)
These extracts on deliberate practice from Tom Sherrington, Nick Wells and Daisy Christodolou.
An extract with some assessment terminology from Nick Wells' blog on assessment which is below:
