Today's classroom provides challenges for instructors. Not all students learn the same way, but all can be encouraged to participate actively in the classroom to build new knowledge. Innovative and effective teaching approaches engage students through active participation. Only2clicks & Live Binder are two innovative approaches that I use.
Only2Clicks.com/pages/lampert - A shortcut to this page is on all student desktops. Students can click on this shortcut and it will bring them right to the website. Once they are there, they click on the tab for their grade. On their page, they can click
LiveBinder - I use LiveBinder as a way to save and organize all of the great web pages that I find.
Google - I have been using Google Docs with my classes this year and it has enabled me to be truly innovative because it enables my classes to work collaboratively on projects.
Below is an example of a project made using Google. These 2nd graders did an amazing job!
Hour of Code - Code.org offers a unique approach to preparing schools to teach computer science in grades K-5, offering high-quality 1-day workshops nationwide to prepare educators to introduce computer science basics in a format that's fun, accessible and relevant to the youngest learners. Students of all ages enjoy learning these fun and applicable skills.
Kahoot - Students are asked questions in real-time. The questions are totally up to the teacher so they are curriculum based. The activity can be used with an unlimited amount of "players". It really creates a social, fun and game-like learning environment. Pictured here, a Kindergarten class is trying Kahoot for the first time. It was a huge hit.
