Our School
Lagunita School District is one of 7 single-school districts in Monterey County. The combined-grade system that epitomizes our early education system, with individualized attention to every student, continues here at the North end of Monterey County.
The Lagunita Elementary School District was established in 1897. The original "little red schoolhouse" was moved to the Boronda Adobe Historical Site and restored by the Historical Society in 1985. Our present building reflects the feeling and character of that original school as it was built to its specifications. Additional buildings were added in 2000, but further attempts to build have been thwarted.
The certificated staff consists of our Principal/Superintendent, four full-time teachers, and a part-time Resource Specialist. The classified staff includes a full-time secretary and a part-time aide/assistant.
After 125 years as a K-8 School, Lagunita became a K-6 Elementary School in the 23/24 school year; subsequently adding Transitional Kindergarten in the 24/25 school year to become a TK-6 Elementary School.
