  1. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
  2. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
  3. customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
  4. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.

How I apply this standard in my teaching

In my college ESL classroom, the use of technological tools not only enable students to explore further into the areas of their interests or disciplines but also help each individual student become more active and responsible participants in their learning. I teach my students effective research skills by using educational databases and online libraries to help them see the incorporating of digital tools and resources facilitate learning and promote creativity. My students are encouraged to choose the technology or digital tools they feel most comfortable using that reflect their own learning styles in and out of school.

The individual needs, talents, and abilities of my students are nurtured in a variety of individual and collaborative class activities. I guide my students to find the learning theory that fit them the most and encourage them to take most charge of their research and learning. For example, I designed a collaboration project of Deaf cultural and education for a group of college students to conduct an interview at Gallaudet University. The students worked together to research about Deaf culture, compile interview questions and assign individual tasks based on their capability in the iMovie production. This project involved students on multiple learning levels and the use of technology in and out of class. The students also developed a broader understanding of the Deaf culture.
