THE PEOPLE ENVOLVED
JMN & others
JMN started this project and is responsible for all the procedures, but several colleagues and students from Lund University occasionally participate in the ringing sessions. Although there are four other researchers (and their helpers) from Lund ringing birds regularly around Krankesjön, only JMN's results are described here.
THE PROJECTS
CES & others
In addition to the constant-effort procedure to monitor breeding birds, ringing is being used, in combination with genetic analyses, to study malaria parasites in the local avian community,. A new research project on malaria parasitism involves the regular capture of House Sparrows up to c.15 km north of Krankesjön.
