The purpose of the Resilient Bangladesh Project is to "strengthen Bangladesh's resilience to natural hazards." The Resilient Bangladesh Project, henceforth referenced as 'the project', is a collaborative effort between the Economic Growth Office (EG) Environment, Energy, and Economic Growth Team (E3) and the Office of Food, Disaster, and Humanitarian Assistance (FDHA).
The project aligns with the current USAID/Bangladesh Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS, 2011-2019) as well as the proposed CDCS (2019-20 24). Under the current CDCS, this project supports Development Objective 4 (DO4): Responsiveness to Climate Change Improved and the CDCS-level goal "Bangladesh, a knowledge-based, healthy, food secure, and climate resilient middle income democracy." Under the proposed CDCS, this project will support DO4: Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards and the CDCS-level goal "Bangladesh, an inclusive, economically viable, food secure, healthy, well-educated, and natural hazards-resilient democracy." The project will also support and align with the Journey to Self-Reliance, Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS), and relevant efforts in areas impacted by the Rohingya crisis .
Together E3 and FDHA aim to enhance resilience and reduce vulnerability of people, places, and livelihoods to natural hazards through strengthened ecosystem conservation, improved adaptation to shocks and stressors, improved disaster management, and enhanced use of sustainable energy.
