In order to become a better academic lecturer and research I have voluntarily enlisted in professional development training sessions. Additionally, I have been personally selected for mentoring, curriculum development, and seminar presentation activities. My personal and professional development has included a four-term teaching certification program, and two-week policy seminar in Washington, D.C., and research training and ethics courses, to highlight a few. I have also had the opportunity on several occasions to pass along what I have learned to my peers, especially to incoming teaching assistants at the University of Delaware, but also aiding in the development of the new undergraduate curriculum in my own department. The experiences below demonstrate that I have a strong personal desire to improve my professional skills along with finding opportunities to mentor those in my field, and outside my field, when possible.
