Social Caste

The social caste that arises from social media is the focus of this page.

Recasting the high school caste with the digital age is one of the perspectives offered by Matt Richtel's front page article on on the Sunday New York Times. The new order is:

"Social butterflies tend to be heavy texters and Facebook users. Students who are less social might escape into games, while drifters or those prone to procrastination, like Vishal, might surf the Web or watch videos."The technology has created on campuses a new set of social types — not the thespian and the jock but the texter and gamer, Facebook addict and YouTube potato."

What other changes in social phenomena can one expect from Social Media and Web 2.0? Will it extend beyond the high school social caste to the professional workplace? Do we call it social media caste or social media influence?
