International/Cultural Exchange Opportunities in Sendai
Several organizations in Sendai/Miyagi work to help foreign residents enjoy life in Japan and promote exchange and friendship with Japanese residents. TFU students interested in international volunteer work and exchange can volunteer their time and/or participate in a variety of exchange programs.

TFU Center for International Academic Exchange / 国際交流センター
Tohoku Fukushi University's Center for International Academic Exchange (Kokusai Koryu Center) organizes faculty and student exchange and study abroad programs with universities around the world. The friendly staff there help students find opportunities to study abroad and help international students here at TFU. TFU students can also volunteer to help welcome/host visiting students.
The Center is located in the Administration Building (本館 Honkan) 2F, next to the Accounting Office. Feel free to visit anytime.

Sendai International Relations Association (SIRA)
Located at the Sendai International Center, SIRA regularly organizes and promotes international/cultural exchange events.They have many activities and opportunities for volunteers. Check the website blog for upcoming events, subscribe to their e-mail magazine, or call/e-mail for information. Even better, stop by the Center sometime to talk with the friendly staff and/or check out their library, magazines & newspapers, video materials, exchange bulletin board, and other facilities.

Morinomiyako (Bilingual) Toastmasters Club: Toastmasters International is a volunteer organization that helps millions of people around the world to learn and
practice public speaking skills. It’s a great way to meet people from different countries who help and encourage each other. The group will help you to improve your speaking skills while building your confidence in presenting to groups—in English and Japanese. This friendly group has weekly meetings in Sendai. Check out their website and send them an e-mail (English or 日本語) on their “Contact” page. You can also find them on Facebook.
The Sendai English Information Group (SEIG) puts out the monthly SEIG LETTER, with useful English information on upcoming events. It's available at several shops and offices around town. Call 022-378-9046 for information.
The Miyagi International Association (MIA) is very active in offering language classes, supporting foreign residents and promoting international exchange. They also publish the mulit-lingual information bulletin, Kawaraban, available at various shops and offices around town. Check their website, call, e-mail or visit their offices for information on events and volunteer opportunities.
