Paediatric First-Aid

This course has been developed especially for individuals working with children and babies, follows the Ofsted/Early Years Foundation Stage syllabus. The Paediatric First-Aid Level 3 qualification is accredited by Qualsafe Awards, an Ofqal regulated awarding organisation.

This First-Aid course be of particular interest to Teachers, Childminders, Crèche Assistants, Playgroup Personnel and anyone responsible for youth organisation.

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and/or babies, and wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in Paediatric First-Aid. In addition to the one day course, many more of childhood illness and conditions are covered.

Duration:

A minimum of 12 hours consisting of practical and theory work. Ideally this

course should run over 2 consecutive days, but we have the

flexibility to accommodate your specific needs, if you do so require.

Syllabus:

A wide range of subjects is covered including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting

  • Assessment of the emergency situation

  • Head injuries

  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Heart attacks

  • Choking

  • Poisoning

  • Sprains & Strains

  • Control of bleeding

  • Bites & Stings

  • Bandaging

  • Burns

  • Fractures

  • Shock

  • Infantile Convulsions

  • Meningitis

Emergency Aid - Paediatric

This course offers a basic introduction to first aid training for people who have contact mainly with children such as young mothers and is suitable for those not requiring a work based certification /qualification, it is aimed at giving attendees the confidence to tackle a wide range of emergency situations without being confused by convoluted methods and technical jargon.

Course Duration

One day 6 hour course.

Course Content

  • Management of the unconscious casualty

  • Management of a non breathing casualty

  • Treatment of a casualty who is bleeding

  • An overview of Burns/Poisons/Convulsions

  • Open Forum on requested topics

  • Contents of First-Aid kits

  • Basic record keeping

Certification

On completion of the course, candidates will receive a certificate of attendance in Emergency First-Aid for babies and Children, Valid for 3 years.
