The non-hydrostatic aspects lead to the dispersion, and solitons involve a balance between the nonlinear terms and the dispersive terms.
When I started this early in 2013, the project seemed sensible enough, but I now suspect that more realistic tests of ELCOM would involve weaker dispersion relative to the nonlinearity, undular bores perhaps.
Sadly, I wasn't able to deliver to Leticia and Jorg in the short time the journal was giving them before they had to send in the revision, and they had different thoughts on how to satisfy the referee.
So in 2014 it became a longer term goal to work at validating ELCOM, but subsequent to the closure of CWR and UWA having the rights to ELCOM, this task has been abandonned.
And at least I've run examples of ELCOM (and ARMS).
