Interests & Coursework
My general interests include geoscience education, sediment transport, geographic information systems, and coral reef biology, geology and ecology. I enjoy most anything that allows me to learn or teach experientially. I also enjoy traveling.
One thing I have learned about myself over the years is that I love to learn, and help others learn. Though the path to my current course of study has taken the occasional scenic route, the classes I have taken fall generally into four broad categories: Science and Math, Data Analysis, Education, and Languages & Communication. Please select a category to see what courses I have taken, along with an official description of each.
Please contact me for grades earned and official transcripts from Duke University, James Cook University, UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University.

Identifying Carbon Sequestration Sites in North Carolina
Identifying sites for Carbon sequestration is becoming more necessary by the week, a task which is made easier by utilizing the power of a geographic information system. Trapping Carbon in the subsoil has been identified as one way of getting rid of excess carbon dioxide that has been released to the atmosphere. Using site data from Soil Data Mart and Web Soil Survey in conjunction with state and population information from NCSU Library website, I have identified several initial sites that should hold more Carbon than the surrounding soils. These can be further analyzed by soil scientists to maximize the amount of Carbon which can be stored. This project included modeling using Modelbuilder, GIS Programming with Python, a Geodatabase Data Model and a web application. (The web application is no longer supported.)
