In 2012, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology and Religious Studies at the University of Virginia, where I focused on evolutionary and ecological biology. A formative experience during this time was spending the summer of 2011 at Mountain Lake Biological Station, where I took immersive field courses in wildlife ecology and mycology. These hands-on courses sparked a deep interest in fieldwork and shaped the direction of my early career.
Since then, I’ve worked in a wide range of roles at the intersection of science, education, and public communication, including:
natural resource instructor
summer camp director
teacher naturalist
ecological field technician, and
lab manager at an R1 research institute.
Most recently, I’ve served as the Communications Manager for Vermont State Parks, where I lead statewide outreach and marketing efforts, manage crisis communications, and promote access and engagement across a network of 55 parks.
At the heart of my work is a belief that people can only care about what they know and understand. Connecting people to the natural world, through education, storytelling, and direct experience, has been a through line in every role I’ve held. Whether teaching outdoor skills, developing video content, managing public information during flood events, or shaping communications strategy at the state level, I strive to make science and the outdoors more accessible, inclusive, and meaningful for all.
