Today's ringing session did not produce many birds, only 27 were caught of which 13 were retraps. However, TVN and I got the first bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) of the year, a young male belonging to subspecies cyanecula; and the very last bird caught was a Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) of the nominal subspecies that had a Danish ring! This means that among the 85 Reed Buntings caught so far this year, two had foreign rings from two countries of which there hadn't been any recoveries in Portugal for this species (the previous was from Holland). Nice!
Aegithalus caudatus 1(2)
Cettia cetti (5)
Emberiza schoeniclus 10 (2)
Erithacus rubecula (2)
Luscinia svecica 1
Parus major (1)
Phylloscopus collybita 2 (1)
Perhaps also of some interest is that the first Swallows (Hirundo rustica) were seen at the site.
The next ringing sessions will be undertaken in Sweden, and the results will be posted here.
