Nicholas McInerny, Playwright - Theatre, TV & Radio:
Dramaturg/Playwright for the Tara Arts SAILING TO BRITAIN - a devised project for young people (14-22) on the Lascars - African and Asian Sailors who served on British Ships from the 16th to the 20th Century. Jules was the Project Leader and Director.
"It remains one the happiest professional experiences in the theatre I have had, with Jules an inspirational leader - demanding the very best from our young people by giving them the confidence to believe in their own talents. Together we created three entirely separate but original plays - working to the highest standard. It has been my wish to work with Jules again ever since that summer, and I would jump at the chance!"
Emma Jowett: SNAP - as part of Eyebrow Productions' "In An Instant" at Theatre 503
"Jules is an open, approachable director who was happy to invite me into the rehearsal room and was keen to involve me in the process. I felt she encouraged thorough discussion and open dialogue with both me, as the writer, and with the actress in the piece. Although she only had a short rehearsal period, she fully interrogated the text to help create a nuanced and engaging performance.”
Michael Sands: WAITING AT GOODGE STREET - Théâtre Libre's 'Journeys Home' at the Overground Festival, Crystal Palace, June 2012
"Jules has become my favourite director to work with. From her openness to discuss the text and performance to the commitment to get the best out of the actors, she constantly made my work stand out in a way I could only have imagined."
