As director, associate director and project director, as well as collaborative work with fellow creative artists, Jules Tipton uses her skills to create work in a variety of settings.

At East 15 Acting School, Jules' work with students includes
directing MA/MFA International students in end of year performance projects;
working in rehearsals on 3 plays as part of a season at the London Actors' Centre Tristan Bates Theatre;
delivering bespoke workshops for students on the World Performance , Community Theatre and Certificate of Higher Education in Performing Arts courses
Co-directing site-specific, promenade performances devised from archive sources with final year Community Theatre students

Jules has been able to combine a strong interest in history and the stories of ordinary people when creating her own work in collaboration with others.
SPIRIT OF RESISTANCE - Extant
- an inter-generational participatory project marking the 10 year anniversary of Extant's first national tour of 'Resistance' by Artistic Director Maria Oshodi, in 2005. The play was an adaptation of Jacques Lusseyran's autobiography 'And There Was Light', which tells the true story of a young blind person leading a Resistance group in occupied Paris during WWII.
SAILING TO BRITAIN - TARA Arts
- a major arts and heritage project exploring the stories of lascars as they sailed to Britain on trading & merchant ships operated by the British East India Company. Collaborating with writer Nicholas McInerny; aerial/movement director Gavin Marshall ; musicians Sohini Alam & Delwar Hossain Dilu, and a cast of young people
JOHN MORGAN: Voice of a Lascar - TARA Arts/National Maritime Museum
- an inter-active performance within the permanent exhibition in the Traders Gallery at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
FRAIL AND FRAGILE
-Working with writer Helen Cadbury to reflect and share the experiences of Florence Farmborough, a nurse at the Russian Front in the First World War. Through her words, exploring the scale and magnitude of events, using light, sound & music.
URCHINS & THE NON-CONFORMISTS - East 15 Acting School Community Theatre 3rd Year students
Work with young people, including Creative Partnerships in schools
Jules' practitioning work with children and young people includes exploring ways of making narrative poetry and Shakespeare accessible to students, using theatre skills to explore and support learning within the National Curriculum.
As a core practitioner and leader within Haringey Shed Inclusive Theatre Company's Outreach team, Jules devised, created and delivered bespoke projects in schools exploring sensitive issues such as domestic violence and bullying.
As a freelance practitioner she works on projects which use drama & theatre skills to explore the National Curriculum at KS1 & KS2, and has been engaged as a Creative Partner in primary schools.
Projects include the exploration of “oral rehearsal” as a means to inspire and improve the standard of creative writing
TIME TRAVELLERS: the creation of a site specific performance based on pupil’s research into local history to promote community cohesion
A QUESTION OF THOUGHT, exploring Philosophy for Children (P4C).
Other projects include collaboration with the Royal Opera House, creating a promenade “opera” exploring heroes and aspirations with primary school students.
As a director, she has worked with year 9 students on creating devised pieces over an intensive 4 days as part of the Newham Arts Festival, for performance at Stratford Circus.
Jules has also worked with young people who are learners within pupil referral units, or those not in education, employment or training.
Jules is a freelance member of the Queens Theatre Hornchurch Communities team, working regularly with the Queens Youth Theatre.
