"Jules brings a rare energy and commitment to her work, being able to weave together disparate complex material which results in sensitive collaborations and memorable celebratory sharings."
Maria Oshodi: EXTANT - Spirit of Resistance"In summer 2009 Jules was engaged by TARA as Project Director for Sailing to Britain, our arts and heritage project linked to London 2012. Jules researched in detail stories of Lascars (migrant sailors from India, China and Africa) in preparation. Over the summer Jules directed a team of workshop facilitators and with a playwright directed over 90 young people from across London to make their own ‘scratch’ performances inspired by Lascars.
Jules takes a young person centred approach in keeping with the project mission and ambition. This is a large scale project, and Jules has risen to the challenge marvellously to ensure it is well regarded by the young people and within the theatre profession.
Jules is a creative thinker, terrific theatre director and an effective communicator who is able to manage a range of demanding tasks at the same time."
Jonathan Kennedy: TARA Arts - Sailing to Britain"... as Associate Director of Present Moment, she is the best lieutenant an artistic director could wish for. During 'Doctor Faustus' she undertook text support work, devising project directorship (including recruitment and budget management), & line managerial responsibility for an all-male acting intern ensemble group of 10.
The great thing about employing Jules Tipton is that you know she can deliver. She is a safe but inspired pair of hands. She has the wisdom, skills and experience to work autonomously but never loses sight of the aims of the project and the importance of collaborative working."
