Almost every 3rd Saturday of the year, the folks from JRBPC get together for a paper shoot. This event normally contains a challenging 25, 50, and 100 yard match. It's a fun day at the range with some nice competition and usually has an exciting "mystery target". The scoring rules have a fun twist, with the bragging rights not necessarily going to the highest scoring shooter, but a special "unknown" target score for the day. It might be the highest, the lowest or the closest shot to any target or even overall. The club has been doing this for years to keep the shooting fun and everyone can focus on their personal achievements. It's a relaxing day to get to spend time with "the old guys" and bring out new folks to experience the black powder shooting sport.
If you love shooting at steel silhouette targets at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards, James River Black Powder Club is the place to be. If its a rainy day or not, we may shoot at steel silhouette targets.
The Family Frolic is always a special event for the club. It's an all-around great time to bring the family out to camp, but fun for the whole family to experience a little of what it might have been like for our early frontiers and longhunters. The fires flicker at night and stories are shared by all. This event also has the experience of a Woods Walk and paper shooting, but you might even see some clay shooting, archery, and knife and hawk time in. One of the special events for the Family Frolic is the amazing night time shoot.

The Bob Lee is an event for the eagle eye shooter in each of us. This is the largest and most serious event we have where the theme truly is "make them court". It's always fun to complete and also see how you might stack up to some of the best shooters around. Bring plenty of lead for this shoot and you might want to forgo from that extra coffee if you make it count. Whatever you do, you never know how that round ball will fly, so come out to complete and participate in the Virginia State Offhand Championship shoot!
