JAMES RIVER BLACK POWDER CLUB
CONSTITUTION

Article I
Name
The name of this club shall be the James River Black Powder Club.
Article II
Muzzle Loading Black Powder Firearms
Firearms using only round ball or shot ammunition shall be permitted.
Article III
Purpose
The primary purpose of this club shall be to emulate the life style of the early Americans prior to 1840. This will include mode of dress, type of living conditions, and the use of black powder firearms for hunting and sporting events. Membership affords opportunities for both the novice and the experienced. The club also encourages the study, research, and instruction of the above to assure continued remembrance of our American Heritage.
Article IV
Membership
Any person eighteen years of age or older and not prohibited by law from owning a firearm may be a member if interested in the purpose of the club and willing to take an active part.
Article V
Officers
The officers of this club shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Range/Safety Officer.
Article VI
Meetings
Section 1
The regular monthly meetings of the club shall be held at a location designated by the President.
Section 2
The annual meeting and the election of officers shall be held on the fourth Thursday of September. The elected officers are to assume their duties at the first meeting in October. The term is for one year.
Section 3
One month prior to the annual meeting, the President shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of three members who shall present a slate of officers for the ensuing year at the meeting prior to the annual meeting.
Section 4
Special meetings shall be held on the call of the President.
Article VII
Affiliation
Affiliation with any national organization of other activity will be by two-thirds majority vote of the members present and voting at any regular or annual meeting.
Article VIII
Amendments
The Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present and voting at any regular or annual meeting, provided that notice of the proposed amendment was submitted at a previous regular or annual meeting. Amendments must be presented at least one month prior to the vote.
Article IX
Dissolution
Upon dissolution of the club, the members understand that they are personally liable if the club assets are insufficient to discharge its liabilities. The members further understand that any assets remaining upon dissolution will be disposed of in accordance with directions of the majority vote of all members.
